“Nadie ignora algo distinto a su propio oficio como quien dice ser maestro en todo”

Eu-Genio-Ka-Wa-Sa-ki (Japón)

Diana and I walked through the streets of Bogotá. This has been my city since I was born on the 9th of December in that beautiful decade, the seventies. She lived here once and somehow understands what belongs to the Colombian people who came to Bogotá, looking for work in this untamed city. We both know that Bogotá belongs to everybody.

I said to Diana: "we are going to await the mother of theatre in Colombia". I also told her: "Vicky Hernández was a mother too". I didn't name other mothers, like Teresa Gutiérrez, but I truly know there is not just one. For this post, I respect Laura García as a mother of the theatre. And not a Colombian mother, an universal mother of theatre.

Tribute to colombian actress Laura García, a Mother of Universal Modern Arts.

If you have the chance to be inspired by someone and you also appreciate arts, you should learn from her experience. Laura García works with her own body, all of it. Television doesn't convey exactly what an actor or an actress does with their body. Because of the shots and immediate sequences, and due to advertising, people who are entertained by TV are mostly accustomed to actors' faces and voices.

Laura García is a genius because she teaches even through her performances.

As a teacher, as a writer and also as a playwright, I learned about acting by hearing her voice from backstage. She coughed at the exact moment her colleague was meant to. I don't know the lines those actors learnt, but she knew exactly why, where, and how to inspire young talent like Yuly Paola Pérez, Gabriel Ayala and Tiberio Cruz. There was also an excellent actor, one of my favorites: Hernán Méndez. Méndez, a Master like Laura, gave his powerful voice to a father in a Master Piece "Long Day´s Journey into night" from author and Nobel Price Eugene O´Neill. This awesome work is directed by Juan Fisher.

Somewhere, Jesus said: “No eres profeta en tu tierra”. I just want to invite culture people in Colombia to gave Laura García her “All Life Recognition”. Maybe in one of those “Tv y Novelas” Prize, maybe in a book about Colombian fine arts.

What about a film about Lauras work? If you know someone who works for that kind of documentaries, tell them there is a woman that changes our point of view, a Master Mother of Modern Arts.

I am just a poet searching for women's sensibility, and being inspired by them.

Thank you DianaPi for being with me at this important moment in my life. I love you.
